I see you.
I see the anger on your face as you watch the news.
I see the hurt in your eyes as you see yet another “friend” post ignorant comments and photos on Facebook.
I see you hold your infant son a little tighter.
I see your shoulders bent a little lower as you walk to the car.
Surrounded. Betrayed. Mocked. Accused.
They are family.
It’s done to one, it’s felt by all.
He is your brother.
Tomorrow – it could be you.
That thin blue line is being tested to the limit.
What can I say? What can I do? The ignorance and hatred is overwhelming. I know you feel it.
I see you.
Don’t listen to their words, don’t let their lies and rage damage your heart. There is still good – there is always good.
For all the noisy ones who scream their hatred and all the arrogant ones who mock, there are hundreds more who feel respect and love. Maybe they don’t say it as often or as loudly, but they are there. All around you. Let the thought of them lift you up during these days and keep love in your heart. You are not alone.
I see you. I know you. I respect you.
I love you – always.
